Webmasters Tools Gets An Important New Feature

If you’re not familiar with Google Webmasters tools then I strongly suggest you read yesterdays post Google Webmaster Tools Improvements. This is a free service that Google provides that gives you great insight into how your website is performing in the Google search engine.

Notable features include:

• Check your indexed pages
• Check which pages have missing Meta tags
• Check who is linking to you and what pages they are linking from
• Website speed test
• Check any broken links you may have pointing to your website
• Check your most popular keyphrases that bring you traffic

If you are not already using Webmasters tools then I strongly suggest you start now by going over to the webmasters tools webpage and follow the instructions to setup an account.

If you are already a user then I’m sure you will be pleased to know about a new long overdue feature that Google has added – You can now verify different users thus gaining them access to a websites profile.

This is advantageous because in the past if you had more than one person who owns a website wanting access they all had to use the same account or upload different verification tags / pages to the website. You can imagine if you had a lot of users this can be problematic.

You can now grant access to anyone who has a Google account.  All you need to do is from the main dashboard click on verification on the right of the domain.

Then click on ad a new user and enter their email address.

The new user can now access the statistics for the website you have specified by clicking on the “add a site” button on the home screen and entering in the URL of the website and you’re done.
