Chrome Extensions Finally Go Live

I previously wrote that, with the launch of the Chrome Extensions Gallery, it appeared Google were finally preparing to enable user created add-on functionality to Google Chrome.  This week the feature went live for Chrome beta users with an array of over 300 extensions being made available for download and installation.

Quick Guide to Getting Extended

Step One:

In order to try out the Chrome Extensions you will first need to make sure that you have the latest beta version of the Google Chrome browser.  The release is available to download direct from Google.

Step Two:

Once you have upgraded point your browser to the Chrome Extensions Gallery where you can browse the range of extensions available and install them with a single click.

So what extensions are you using, and what extensions are you holding out for?  Personally I like the convenience of Google Mail Checker letting me know when I receive a new email and similarly being automatically alerted to activity on Google wave.  Quick Scroll is a nifty addition that automatically takes you to the point on a webpage that contains your search term; very useful when you open a site from a search engine results page only to be faced with a wall of text.  Hopefully sometime soon there will be a Firebug style extension that will allow analysis and editing of websites from within the browser.
