Google Docs Uploads Hint at How GDrive Could Function

Google have just added a brand new upload feature to their Google Docs Service.  The feature allows users to upload files of up to 250MB to the cloud storage solution and then access them from anywhere with an Internet connection.

The 250MB file limit is considerably more than most emails will allow, providing the perfect storage solution for users who need access to large files (for example images, presentations and zip archives) from multiple locations.  Each user will be given 1 GB of storage for free with additional storage space being available for purchase for $0.25 per GB.  The upload feature will likely provide both a cost effective and conveniant solution for many users, who may for example share files between their home and office without needing to manually transport them on USB memory sticks.

Google have been quick to point out that this new service is not the heavily speculated “GDrive”, but it’s features are undeniably similar to those that have been rumoured for Google’s cloud storage solution.  It certainly seems like Google are rolling out this uploads feature as a small scale test of what they could introduce when the GDrive feature finally sees the light of day.
