If you haven't seen these before then prepare yourself to lose a mornings productivity, these little web-based widgets are a diverse range of games and visual treats all made with open standard languages such as HTML5 and JavaScript. It's really the sort of thing you need to try to appreciate, so if you don't already have Chrome installed then head on over to the Google Chrome homepage to download it for free.

It seems difficult to enjoy these browser delights without thinking about the landscape for interactive content that currently exists. Google has already showed their support for Adobe's Flash system, even so far as including the Flash plug-in with Chrome, but these Chrome experiments are all done with 'open standards'. Flash may be heavily supported by Chrome, but that doesn’t seem to have lessened Google's ambitions to have Chrome be a thoroughly modern browser adept in alternative technologies such as HTML5.

Got some time to burn? Try the Chrome Experiments homepage.
