Google Interviews Conan O’brien

Former 'Tonight Show' host Conan O'brien appeared at Google's  Mountain View HQ this week to promote his comedy tour – 'The Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Televison Tour.' See below.

Conan O'brien, for anyone that doesn't know, was the host of 'Late Night with Conan O'brien' from 1993-2009. In 2009 he took over from Jay Leno on the Tonight Show, while Jay Leno would move to a prime time show earlier in the evening. When Jay Leno's ratings were not as NBC had expected they tried to move Conan O'brien's Tonight Show to 12.05am in order to move Jay Leno to a late evening slot. Conan was understandably upset by this and negotiated a deal to leave NBC. As part of this negotiation Conan is not allowed to start working for another network until September 2010. Hence the name of his tour.

Having already visited the Twitter offices, Conan evidently understands the power of the web as a form of distribution for his work and a way to promote himself. He already has a massive online following, amassed through social networking and most notably Twitter, and he is evidently tapping into this with his latest appearances. Upon joining Twitter he amassed over 50,000 followers in a few hours! His resignation from NBC garnered him massive online support and inspired a number of major Facebook campaigns, including Team Coco. On the back of this wave of support he has secured himself a new late night show on cable channel TBS starting in Novemeber.

Here is the video of his interview by Vic Gundotra at Google HQ infront of all the 'G' men: Brilliant.
