Keywords Diagnosed with New Google AdWords Tool

The complexity of wide-ranging AdWords Campaigns means that sometimes getting information about the status of your keywords is not the easiest thing in the world. Performing a quick audit of the status of your keywords would provide valuable information as to where your time is best spent optimising your campaign.

Well wouldn't-you-know-it but those click-happy Mountain View advertising boffins have recently introduced tools to allow AdWords users to do just that. The new Keyword Diagnosis option in the Keywords tab allows you asses a great number of keywords in one easy operation.

Just view your keywords in the AdWords web interface, then select the 'More Actions…' menu and choose 'Diagnose keywords'. A panel will open with options to interrogate your keywords – Domain, Language, Country and even a specific region within that country. Make your choices and then select 'Run test', AdWords will have a think and a ponder and then output the results in the Status column of the page.

If all is good then you will be greeted with the 'Ad showing now' message. Other responses might alert you to problems with that keyword specifically (quality score, etc.) or even problems with that group (budget limits, etc).

It's another good tool in the bag for AdWords users, its speedy performance and integration within the normal web UI means that large numbers of keywords can be checked quickly. Whether you are rooting out problems or simply double-checking that your campaign is working properly, waiting a couple of seconds for a test of your keywords is good use of anyone's time.
