Novell Pulse Rides the Google Wave

The Google Wave Blog raises an interesting point, when you send an email to someone then you don’t spend a moment considering whether the recipient can receive the mail – and why should you, the standard that email is based on makes it easy for people using POP3 mail accounts from their ISP to easily send mail to someone using a webmail service like GMail.Novell Logo

When you look at collaboration tools like Google Wave this can become an issue, if you use one tool to collaborate then you tend to ‘fence yourself in’ to that system.

Well it looks like Google is looking for its Google Wave Federation Protocol to become a standard for just this reason. The big news is that the “enterprise-focused collaboration tool” Novell Pulse uses the Google Wave Federation Protocol and as such is compatible with Google Wave.

So what does this mean for users?
It means that people using either system can work on projects, opening the door to improved inter-business collaborations.

..More information can be found on the Google Wave Blog, Google Wave Federation Protocol homepage and Novell Pulse website.
