10% Pay Rise For All Staff At Google…How About Some Faster Search Then?

Google had better be brewing something tasty in their Mountain Megaplex… with news reported initially by Silicon Alley Insider, that all their staff are getting a 10% pay rise across the board, they should now have something special in the pot. With increased competition from the likes of Facebook and the new Bing/Yahoo mutant in effect, it is no wonder that Google is trying to shore up its defences to prevent its best talent from jumping ship.

So what search extensions can you expect to see made standard?

It may not be a new feature in general web results just yet, but by simply adding the extension FastestChrome, (which is related to one of the most popular Firefox Extensions: FastestFox), you can have all these lovely extra features as listed on the Chrome Extensions page:

  • Endless Pages automatically loads the next page just before you reach the end so you don’t have to click “Next” or wait
  • Look up definitions instantly by highlighting a word
  • Better Google: shows you relevant results from real-time and shopping search engines such as OneRiot and Amazon
  • Search more conveniently: select text then click on a search engine to search
  • Automatically turns text URLs into links
  • Adds related articles to Wikipedia

If you haven’t used this extension before, you will agree that these certainly make your search experience faster. Hopefully features such as this will become standard issue with Chrome soon.

What other extensions would you like/expect to see made standard soon?
