Google AdWords Rates Itself With New Extension

AdWords users must be pretty familiar with the idea of product extensions by now, even if the majority seem to play it down-the-line with the traditional text-only advert. The idea of being able to add extra features to ads such as location maps or example products is a great way to get more information about your business displayed to potential customers.

Well it turns out that Google is set to release yet another extension, this time giving the option to add seller rating quality stars to your adverts.

This rating, taken from Google Products Search, actually allows advertisers to show their qualities as a retailer to potential customers. Customers choosing between advertisers are certain to find reassurance from adverts that display high scoring merchant review stars, it’s a clear advantage!

So What Do I Have To Do To Get Seller Ratings On My Ads?

There are a few criteria – Your store must be rated in Google Product Search, have 4 or more stars and have over 30 reviews. If these targets are met then Google will automatically show your seller rating. As an added bonus you aren't actually charged for the click until the actual ad text is selected – clicks to see the retailer's reviews on Google Products are free.

This is yet another step towards providing users with more information via Google's advertising system, Google certainly knows the value of quality advertising. It also signals for any retailers that may be 'behind the curve' that their online reputation is something to be valued and nurtured. Providing incentives to happy customers to rate their experience online can turn itself not only into more sales via word of mouth, but with the new Seller Ratings it can actually lead to more powerful advertising.
