Wolfram|Alpha Get Military Data

If you want the number of calories per gram of chocolate, Wolfram|Alpha is the place to go. If you want to convert a certain number of U.S. dollars into Euros then once again Wolfram|Alpha is there to help. If you’re a world leader looking to weigh up the potential military and nuclear threat of a non-allied country then visit Wolphram|Alpha. Wait… what was that last one?

The computational knowledge engine that is Wolphram|Alpha, is now providing in depth military information from over 150 countries, including armed forces, armaments, and even stockpiles of nuclear warheads. Stephen Wolfram, the creator of the comprehensive knowledge engine has never hidden his intentions to make the engine the most in depth application for the comparison of mathematical and statistical data. So it should come as no surprise that you can now find out exactly how many different countries have the capacity for mass destruction. Yay!

For the peace lovers amongst us you’ll be pleased to know that 229 countries don’t have any form of nuclear weaponry. However, nuke loving Russia have a stockpile of approximately 13,000, probably just sitting around in a YouStore somewhere. China unsurprisingly has an army of 1.4 million people, which thanks to Wolfram|Alpha we now know is almost 12 and a half times that of the British army. That’s not terrifying at all!

Now that the site has put together all of this information (based on end of 2009 statistics), it’s possible to compare any countries military strength in a variety of areas. You can compare USA’s submarine numbers to that of Russia or perhaps look at the estimated nuclear warheads of the 9 countries known to have already detonated nuclear weapons.

It’s all very interesting and just slightly worrying to have so much information readily available to compare, and certainly gives you some food for thought. It’ll be interesting to see what Wolfram|Alpha add next to their arsenal of computational data. Let us know what you think they should add next by commenting below.
