Apple & Microsoft vs. Google?

Is it that easy for past rivals to put their differences aside to strengthen themselves against a common force? Well if the recent story in Business Week comes to fruition then Google may just have to consider how it operates in an increasingly mobile-internet world.

The word is that the old warring camps of Apple and Microsoft might actually come to an agreement where Bing becomes the default search option on the incredibly popular Apple iPhone. Sources quoted in Business Week, who asked not to be named, have said that these negotiations have been underway for a number of weeks – however these talks could still not lead to a definite agreement.

Although collaboration between Apple and Microsoft is not a completely new concept (Microsoft applications have been available to buy on the Apple operating system for years) the idea that they could join forces in this way shows how powerful Google has become. In a world where mobile internet is starting to become commonplace, Google’s power over the lucrative advertising market is surely something that every online company will be forced to evaluate.
