Google’s Response to Bing Shopping’s Promotions

Last week the Cozy Digital detailed the promotions put forward by Bing Shopping and what outlook they expected in the Christmas rush. Well this week, a main competitor ‘Google Checkout’ has released some of its intentions for the season in time for Cyber Monday. With competition in the internet sales market, how will Google checkout fair?

Detailed in last week’s Cozy Digital, Bing Shopping was looking at expanding its popularity in the market and had released details of extensive promotions throughout December. This was a big push for Bing and emphasised there intention to compete with the biggest contenders. Google checkout is one of the biggest of these and until this week there had been little information on what promotions they would be involved in.

They recently announced that there would be exclusive discounts at hundreds of online stores including TigerDirect.com, BlueNile.com and Petco.com. These promotions would include discounts ranging from 5 to 20 dollars. Furthermore, as of Cyber Monday (30th November), customers will be able to take advantage of some limited-time offers available at Toysrus.com, Babiesrus.com and Buy.com.

These limited promotions for such stores around Christmas will surely spark interest among parents of small children, bringing a lot of traffic Google’s way. On top of this, Google’s Product Search Team have published their list of popular products to provide some stimulus for their users to get into the shopping mood.

With both Bing and Google gearing up for Christmas, it remains to be seen how the two will fair and who will improve their reputation as a shopping expert service. Both are offering a range of competitive discounts and promotions and further promotions are likely to appear from both in the immediate future. While it is clear that Google will remain vastly ahead in the market, it remains to be seen whether Bing can make any kind of dent in Googles dominence. It seems no one know until next year when figures are announced. Until then, it bodes well for the casual shopper with a range of offers available in the run-up to Christmas.
