Google Plays with Reader

So the internet’s pretty good, eh? Loads of great, useful applications and noble causes using this distributed communications channel. Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves though, for many (hi) the internet is also an important way to waste as much time as possible reading random stuff and chuckling at cartoons. Problem is, these days there is so much clutter it’s difficult to find the useful clutter you actually want to read.

Google LogoWell Google Labs have had their thinking caps on again and just released a one-stop ‘isthatthetimealready!?’ resource for the info hungry. Called Google Reader Play, all you need to do is press ‘next’ to view another bit of interesting content, then click one of the lower buttons if you like what you see, what could be simpler? Over time Google Reader Play will learn the type of thing you like and tailor the stories it shows to your, perhaps, slightly warped sense of humour! (only kidding)

Whether this latest addition to Google’s online applications arsenal is enough to pip StumbleUpon at the web wandering game remains to be seen.

More information can be found on Google Reader Play’s homepage in Google Labs, and the actual Google Reader Play page.
