How Will Twitter Analytics Affect Your Business?

Well well well…Twitter Analytics is here at last.

Twitter has finally started to roll out their much anticipated Analytics dashboard. Right now it is just available for a few invited Tweeters, but hopefully it will be available for all very soon. Speaking at the Sports Marketing 2.0 Summit in September a member of Twitter’s business development team Ross Hoffman let slip that Twitter Analytics would be with us by the end of the year. This image shows how the dashboard will look:

How Will This Affect Your Business?

Being able to track your user’s activity is a valuable resource, as many people currently appreciate through using things like Google Analytics. Twitter has been a notoriously tough analytical nut to crack with third party programs needed to track data, until now. Twitter’s new dashboard will give you the opportunity to see a range of details:

  • Who has retweeted
  • How often they have retweeted
  • Track mentions, follows and unfollows
  • Track the success of an individual tweet
  • See who is your keenest follower

All this will give you a chance to capture data on your current audience, see what Tweets are getting the most attention and those that aren’t and help you to focus your social marketing campaign better. Twitter Analytics will be free in its initial incarnation, but there is a suggestion that there will be a more advanced version released later which will not be free, but will have more options.

Will the availability of Twitter Analytics make you more likely to adopt Twitter as a marketing tool, now that you can track its success?
