Is Google Feeling Charitable?

As many of us won’t be aware, Google Checkout provides a service to assist non-profit charities. At this time of year, this story seemed to fit quite well with the spirit of the season and all that.

Apparently, the ‘Google Checkout for Non-Profits’ has assisted thousands of registered charities to gain donations quick and easily via the Google service over the last couple of years. Furthermore they announced yesterday that their free donation processing service will be extended to at least 2011.

The Google Checkouts process has been proven to increase donations for organisations as a result of its simplicity and security. Donors can also feel secure in making their donation as the Google service provides enhanced data security to protect credit card details.

Charities that are registered members of the Google Grants program can achieve donation goals via website advertising on Google. Other organisations are strongly encouraged by Google to apply for the service in order to take advantage of the opportunity for their charity.

The internet has many benefits for charities, both for education and donations. During the festive preiod, this move by Google reflects the charitable nature of the Christmas season. If you have any other stories of seasonal charity feel free to post here.
