New Google Analytics Features – Intelligence Engine Boost

If you like to data mine like a Chilean and you use Google Analytics, you have probably used their intelligence engine and customer alerts features. What’s happening now is, Google have announced a bunch of useful new features.

Major Contributors

You know how custom alerts let you know when interesting changes happen to your account; this new feature lets you break down these results so that you can see exactly where this major change was initiated. For example, here is a screen shot from Google which shows how one email in particular drove a ton of traffic to one landing page in particular. That page is your latest ‘major contributor’! Here’s what it will look like:

All you need to do to take advantage of this new tool is to set up a custom alert then go into the manage intelligence reports section in ‘Reports’.

Instant Alert Notification

Another new feature is the option to be alerted about your alerts by email, or even by text message. This means that if you’re sitting in the bath and you get an alert that your goal conversion rate has decreased suddenly by 50%, you can leap out of the water, kick the cat out of the way and swoop down upon your computer, just in time to fix it. Phew!

Here’s what that page will look like:

These features aren’t out everywhere yet, but when they are I’m sure they will come in handy…
