Cozy Digital Week-End Blog (05-02-10)

Wow, these weeks really seem to go in fast. Not that I’m complaining, but the fact that there are now copious amounts of Easter eggs lining the shelves in Tesco’s kind of took me by surprise. But then I wouldn’t be surprised if come the end of April we’re seeing Halloween costumes. Still at least Cadbury’s Cream Eggs will be back. Although, I suppose they should probably be called Kraft Cream Egg’s after the American Giant’s takeover. But if they dare to start filling them with peanut butter I’ll be round their door with some eggs of my own. Anyway, why are we here again? Oh yeah the Week-End Blog.

This week it seemed like nothing existed outside Google as the Search Engine monster encompassed our news week. Early in the week we looked into how they were changing the access settings to Google AdWords accounts. The article also points out how to update your preferences to adapt to these changes. Also in AdWords, they're providing a new way to add your company’s local telephone number in mobile ads to potential clients in a Pay-Per-Call format. Google also decided to drop support for Internet Explorer 6 possibly as a result of the whole China fallout, or possibly because let’s face it, it’s dated.

Google ‘s Streetview feature also got a bit of a bashing as an American couple set about trying to sue the company for taking images of their private street. Ah Americans, is there anyone they won’t sue?

Google seem to have also jumped on the touch screen bandwagon as they leak a little information about their Chromium Tablet Project. Their Mobile phone ‘the Nexus One’ got a bit of an update with some quite cool new features. The Google Wave platform also seems to be making strides as its open API has allowed Wrike.com to provide project management features for the application. Expect more enhancements to follow. While we were so avidly on the topic of Google here on the Cozy Digital we decided to compile their series of Analytics video tutorials for your viewing pleasure. If you want to let the Analytics team know what you think of the service they’re also running a survey regarding their help centre. Also, for those of you who looked into doing the Google Webmaster Quiz last month the answers are finally here for your perusal.

Just outside of Google’s shadow a few things did actually happen as president Obama addressed the internet nation via questions and video’s posted from moderator on YouTube. Finally, for anyone with an avid interest in the internet like us, the BBC is running a new series tracking the success of the internet.

If you have the usual bout of friday boredom, have a look at this Google Gravity App it should kill a few minutes.

Well that’s your lot for another week of world web wonderment as we sign off until Monday. Next week were making some groovy changes to the Friday Week-End Blog with a new name and everything. So if you have any ideas or suggestions then feel free to post a comment here or tweet #CozyDigital with your idea!
