Ramsay’s Web Wire – Issue #6: S-E-Oooh Yeah!

We’re all getting down to business this week as we delve deep into SEO with a little web design info on the side for good measure. After all this is primarily an SEO and web design blog. So why not sit back, relax, have a cup of tea and we’ll fill you in on the world of SEO.

First up, what does Google think of SEO? You would think that they’d have an opinion of it as they’re so often at the centre of the SEO universe. If Google says jump SEO asks how high. As it turns out Google definitely think there’s longevity in the right kind of SEO. Note that’s the ‘right’ kind as head of spam at Google Matt Cutts is all for Black Hat SEO going the way of the dodo. Good thing we’re squeaky clean at Cozy Digital.

Speaking of endangered species, is the meta description tag about to shuffle off this mortal coil? More and more Google are choosing to use text from your site as an alternative to describe your site, so should you really bother with them?

If you’re serious about efficient SEO of your site then you surely employ Analytics for your site or business. It’s practically standard practice so if you don’t use it then hurry up and get on board. However despite the reverence towards Analytics, the old girl might have sprung a leak as users can now opt out of Analytics recording their data. Of course Google remain cheery about Analytics and even have a new Analytics TV episode for you. After the last episodes cliff hanger, this should be a doozee.

For AdWords users, Google have put a bit of work into making finding out exactly how users go about deciding and making your conversions that little bit easier. On the web design side of things find out how you should really be tailoring a multilingual site so it’s more of a Oui from your users than a big fat bu! (that’s Chinese by the way). Also on a design slant there’s a look into future photoshop secrets and the impending release of Adobe CS5.

Elsewhere Google are apparently definitely, definitely pulling the plug on china’s censored search.

<sarcasm>We wait with baited breath</sarcasm>.

The search engine provider have also started providing a useful new discussion feature on their site and Yahoo are offering two free new iPhone applications.
