YouTube recently released their new music discovery and playlist feature which is providing users with a greater ability than ever to find their favourite songs from their favourite artists. Having finally had time to look at the service it clearly doesn’t disappoint.
The Discovery service allows you to select from a range of popular artists or search for a specific artist. The service then returns to you a great selection of tracks from that artist. The simplicity and layout of the service is tidy and uncomplicated as you would expect from YouTube. Furthermore, the range of features offers a great deal in terms of filtering and ordering for your results. Once you have searched for the artist you will be provided with the video, playlist and a brief synopsis of the artist.
On top of this you can then compose your playlist using whatever songs you wish from the full selection of songs available. You can use the mix tape feature to shuffle the songs or you can opt to look at a selection of related artists. Finally, you can save your created playlist for later use (as long as you have a YouTube account).
With such a useful service available it’s very likely that this will bring in a lot of new subscribers to YouTube. With the incomparable range of songs available, it’s quite clear that this service offers a lot more range than you are ever going to have available on your offline media player.
